Yuletide Letter Placeholder
Oct. 13th, 2013 10:15 pmHello, my gifter! Thank you for writing me a thing.
Generally, I like bad things happening to good people, relationships changing for better or for worse because of stuff that happens between two people, people taking care of each other for the long run, and things that don't work out the way you expected them to.
I hold very little sacred and am receptive to jokes of all levels of crassness, so long as the point of the joke isn't to alienate/delineate some group.
(Examples: (topic: Jewish jokes)
Funny: "Why don't Jewish mothers drink? / They don't want to dull the pain."
Unfunny: "Why do Jews have big noses? / Because the air is free.")
My romantic relationship fic hierarchy is: complicated relationship problems from within the (established) relationship, happy ending > c.r.p.f.w.t.e.r, sad ending > incredible displays of devotion > hurt/comfort > friends to lovers > fluff.
For most platonic relationships, I like: incredible displays of devotion > people demonstrating that they really, really Get each other > fluff > ????. I like fluff quite a bit here, actually. I generally like my platonic relationships on the happier side, for whatever reason.
If you have lingering doubts about whether I'd like something, you can always ask my broski
spandextales. We've made a pact that if asked, we'll answer questions for each other's Yule gifters and/or act as messengers preserving anonymity.
Fandom-specific requests:
Fire Emblem (Tellius):
I'd like Ike/Soren fic not directly based off of a canon event. Preferably something that shows off their trust in each other. It'd also be nice if the story involved what they're capable of (skillset-wise).
Alternatively, pretty much anything with Micaiah being a badass and/or making tough decisions.
Fire Emblem (Awakening)
Olivia/Henry please? I understand that most people are familiar with English!Henry so I'm chill with that interpretation of his character (though I favor Japanese Henry -- but please stick to your gut on how he works rather than intimately following my notes and/or various meta ramblings you may find, most of which are outdated) so long as the events that happened in the Olivia/Henry supports themselves go with the Japanese version of events. FWIW, I like puns and a certain level of delighted morbidity, but not so much making light of his self-destructive tendencies or having him express masochistic desires. Anyway, pretty much anything with Olivia/Henry is good, since there's very little done for them right now. If you need ideas, I really like them being a family with Inigo, and I also like the idea that Henry is emotionally stronger than either of them knows.
Alternatively, I really like the future kids. Like, all of them except Yarne. I'm pretty okay with anyone paired with almost anyone (with the exceptions of Inigo/Noire and Morgan/Yarne) but I'd prefer the focus not be romantic. Pretty much any topic is okay when it comes to them. (Incidentally, if you like FuturePast!Morgan? I love FuturePast!Morgan.)
I realize that I didn't really specify any characters in my request so you may not see anyone you really feel confident writing here. That's all right. I'd also be interested in: anything plotty in the Bad Timeline, any parent-child bonding, and spoofy irreverent crossovers with other FE games involving people in various roles and tropes working together/commiserating/hating each other.
Tamir Triad
Pretty much anything?
I'd especially love something about the transition from Tobin to Tamir, whether that's in a "wow suddenly my life makes sense in retrospect" way, or "how can I be a girl? I don't act girly? ????" way, or the issues with their relationship to Ki immediately after the switch.
Alternatively, anything Wythnir-and-Arkoniel. I also rather like Iya. Lhel is cool too.
Oyasumi Punpun
For some reason it didn't occur to me to nominate this, but I adore Oyasumi Punpun and if you think you can pull something off for it, please do. My particular interests include Nanjou (especially: being a self-made woman, or being overbearing and self-centered but ultimately good for Punpun) and the Punpun-Yuuichi dynamic (with all that about Punpun being like him, and all the stuff that comes between them over the years). But really, I pretty much like everyone's life problems in this manga, from Shimizu to Punpun's mom.
If you write for this I'd especially prefer if you imitated the atmosphere of the manga. The other fandoms I'm perfectly okay with darker or lighter, more serious or more silly, but with Oyasumi Punpun I want that vaguely exhausted cynical realism with occasional touches of beauty.
Elementary
Irene and her true role really intrigue me, especially as a foil to Sherlock. The thing I like about Sherlock/Irene is that, for all their differences in morality, they've got a certain similarity in their genius and worldview that creates this brilliant tension between them. Whether it's Irene and Sherlock matching each other tit for tat, or admiring each others' work and fucking, I love how they interact.
I don't mind what time period you write her in, but however you do it, I'd prefer the narrator (be it first or third or whatever) be aware of Irene's workings in a way that appreciates how clever they are.
Also I realize this isn't really compatible with most stories that would have the above, but for the record I like Joan quite a bit (esp. when rolling her eyes at Sherlock) and I also quite like Alfredo despite how little he turns up.
