NOTE: % at the end of a line means that the above two lines correspond to those two lines in the Japanese taken together, but not each to their corresponding line. (That is, some elements were transposed to make the translation more natural.) %3 is used to indicate that the above three lines are merged.

*1 More literally, these two lines are: "Because for Ike in bad condition, the crease between the eyebrows deepens." The use of "You" is somewhat informal in Japanese and it is common to use the name of the other person in place of it.

*1 "Influence" is implicit. Lit: "Parents' presence is probably great (as in huge, profound), isn't it."
*2 The number of people here is unspecified. It could be "that influential person" or "those influential people".
*3 The above two lines are somewhat interpretive. Extremely difficult to render in English any more literally. Note that the references to the "young child" are entirely gender-neutral in the Japanese. A literal translation is clumsy enough without trying to maintain that neutrality.
*4 This, and the above line, really are in imperfect aspect. Which is, for our purposes here, possibly a lapse into present tense. It may be him lapsing into a flashback... but it may also be a Japanese storytelling convention. I am not familiar enough with Japanese customs to rule out the latter.
