PoR Stefan/Soren Supports

A translation a day keeps language rust away!

Japanese
English

I think the Stefan and Soren supports are a stellar example of both how Soren is more forceful, and more interestingly, how this affects the characterization of another character. Context is everything and can make a creeper out of a passionate philanthropist.

Note: The way Stefan speaks is impossibly archaic. I do not claim to have all the nuances of his speech here. Stefan's speech is mostly well-translated in the localization, except for his occasional flamboyancy (which I suspect was an attempt at going for the antiquated way he speaks).
EDIT 1/9/13: Not that archaic. Just a little old-fashioned.

% at the end of a line means that the above two lines correspond to those two lines in the Japanese taken together, but not each to their corresponding line. (That is, some elements were transposed to make the translation more natural.)

It's fine to lower your guard.
I'm... a comrade*1 of yours.

Soren...………………...

*1 The word that I have rendered as "comrade" has a number of meanings, all suggesting that the subject is a member of the other person's in-group. "One of yours" is a pretty good translation of it.

Well then, forgive my insistence.

*1 The wording here is idiomatic for "to go into a huddle," but that perhaps imparts a more clingy-and-frightened vibe than intended in English. Alternatively, football.

After you become unsure of what to even do,*5

Soren...……………...

*1 The word 己 here rendered as "yourself" is derogative.
*2 For those curious, the term for Branded in Japanese is 印付き, literally Marked, and it is probably read as "intsuki." [EDIT: The RD glossary says it is read "shirushitsuki".] I could swear that at some point I stumbled upon the official reading of the kanji and it was slightly different, but I can't seem to find that anymore.
*3 My previous note was in error. (This is a neutral reference to people-who-bear without an emphasis on humanity or beorcness.)
*4 More literally, these three lines read: "Even so, I thought until three years ago that I passed through the years normally." Due to the particulars of Japanese syntax, both the idea of "even so" and "I thought" are in the last line, so I tried to convey that in the above.
*5 I am extremely unsure of this line. I think he's saying, "When you don't even know what you're doing with yourself anymore," but he might also be saying something quite different. The grammar is foreign to me.
*6 Note that the term for "Spirit Charmer" and "Spirit's Protection" was originally the same term, 精霊の護符, which is literally "Spirit's Charm". It appears to refer to both the mark itself and the procedure the mark represents, but does not directly refer to people who have it.

"Nakama"? Is it? XD DGM loves using that word. *can't really read it, though*

No, the "comrades" one.
