Excerpt from 4-F-3 Lehran's Memory

In which Dheginsea makes some pretty good points in the Japanese.

Video of the Japanese.

CharacterEnglishJapaneseMy Rough Translation
LehranOf course not. Yet...there are laguz who are treated as less than livestock. I cannot believe that this is what the goddess wants.

If the Goddess were to wake,
if she were to look upon this world,
what would she think?

The laguz, as if livestock,
lie under beorc command. If she saw this world...
DheginseaGoldoa will not move. This decree stands from the time our nations were formed. The goddess has not yet slept one hundred and fifty years. Would you see the laguz and beorc destroyed? Would you see all of Tellius awash in blood? No, unless destruction comes to seek us at our door, Goldoa will not move, for the sake of future generations. ……

... I merely watch over everything.
Though it may be slavery, the laguz live.

But the spreading of more war than
our current state must be avoided. %

Since the Goddess has fallen asleep
150 years have yet to pass.

And before it came to this, there was also
a time when the laguz dominated the beorc.%

The remaining 850 years... if (and only if) time passes,
then these positions may be shaken once more.

I will not move.
It is a thing decided since the nations first divided.

Laguz and beorc,
will one go out and meet ruin? ...
Will a continent-engulfing war occur?

As long as such a destructive crisis has not come,
Goldoa will not move.

This is far from the whole thing, but this part caught my eye. He sounds more reasonable to me.

I always thought he was fairly reasonable but I agree that he seems...more wordy, like he's more keen on explaining himself and helping others understand his POV in the original, which makes him seem more reasonable in general.

:o?

do you know if the implication of "dominated" here is closer to "were stronger than" or "enslaved"? I can't recall anything in-game that ever referenced the laguz being dominant in the past—the implication seemed to be "zunanma, peace happiness, then laguz/beorc split, mainland tellius beorc dominate"
