PoR Ike/Elincia A
| Character | English | Japanese | My Rough Translation |
| Elincia | ... | …………▼ | ... |
| Ike | We finally reach the capital tomorrow. ▼ | At last, tomorrow it'll be the capital. |
| Elincia | Yes... | ……はい。▼ | ... Yes. |
| Ike | How are you feeling about it? | 心境は?▼ | How do you feel? |
| Elincia | More than a little anxious... But... We've finally made it. I'm home. More than anything, I feel relief. | … ▼ | ... Very anxious. But... At last, we've finally managed to arrive. At last, we can make our return. These two happinesses are greater. |
| Ike | You've grown strong, Princess. ▼ | You've become strong. |
| Elincia | That's only because I had such a great role model. ▼ | That's because a good model... was right next to me.% |
| Ike | Hah! I think you meant to say bad role model, right? By the way, do you remember what you said to me on the southern sea? ▼ あんた南の海で 自分がなんて言ったか覚えてるか?▼ | I think you're quite mistaken.0 On that southern sea, do you remember what you said? |
| Elincia | W-what did I say? Hopefully, it was nothing too embarassing. Did I say something strange? |
| Ike | You said, "Give them a sound thrashing!" だったか?▼ | "May you give them a thrashing!" wasn't it?1 |
| Elincia | Oh...er...that? That was...um... I was trying to fit in, my lord Ike. To be rough and capable like the rest of you. I was trying to sound a little like you and your men.2% I wanted to become bold like everyone [else], you see...% |
| Ike | You caught me off guard with that one. ▼ | As usual, I'm confused3 by you. |
| Elincia | Hee hee! It brings back memories. When I fled the capital and was told about Crimea's defeat in Gallia... I prepared myself to live in crushing, colorless despair for the rest of my days. But when I look back, I can see there were some warm rays of hope...poking through. ... Somehow, it's4 very dear, isn't it? When I had fled from the capital... in Gallia... when I had heard of Crimea's defeat...% I had resigned myself to the thought that, from thereon, only despair awaited me...% ... However, when I look back like this, there was a great deal of hope... the warm, warm light of hope... |
| Ike | You're right... |
| Elincia | Tomorrow, I will face King Daein and reclaim Crimea...or die in the attempt. It is the only thing on my mind. ▼ | I... with this hope in my breast... I will face tomorrow's battle. And I will bring down King Daein, for the sake of taking back Crimea. |
| Ike | You employed me as a mercenary. I'll give you your money's worth! ...No. It means more than that... To my last breath, I will do all that I can to ensure your dream...Elincia. ▼ | I'm the mercenary you hired. In order to grant your desire, I promise I'll use every last drop of my strength. |
| Elincia | Oh, Ike... |
0 Less... posh. But this is the only way I can think of translating this closely and succinctly.
1 Really, it's adorably strange. The first part (the "sound thrashing" part) uses a pretty colloquial way to express that timeless knock'em-out-of-the-water idea, and then it ends with a polite "may you give them!" that, incidentally, is also snarkily treating the enemy with respect.
2 Not actually gendered in the Japanese -- literally "Lord Ike and [the group of people near him]"
3 In the sense of "shocked" (but not as strong as "shocked"), not "you make my hormones do something strange".
4 The next few lines suggest she means the memories. Like The Aeneid! ("Perhaps, one day, remembering even these things will bring pleasure." Book 1, Line 203.)
