Theoretical Peak Damage in Fire Emblem Awakening
It's not quite over 9000, but it's close.
If you want to skip the rationale, just read the parts that are bolded.
By the way, this is for peak damage after one battle, ie, after you hit the "Attack" command once.
The two units on our side will be Morgan parented by Vaike-fathered Gerome and Avatar (str asset, resistance flaw or something else that doesn't subtract strength) as well as Gerome himself. On the enemy side we will assume that we have a dummy willing to soak up any amount of damage, and no defenses whatsoever. I would also like it to do exactly 79 damage to Morgan after all is said and done -- contrive this however you please, because obviously our enemy is already outside the realm of actual possibility.
This combination of Avatar (max str+4) and Vaike-fathered Gerome (3+3+1) gives us the highest attainable strength for Morgan. It also allows us to support with Gerome, who has the highest possible max strength for someone not fathered by the Avatar. Serendipitously, since Gerome's his father, they can A support to catch the pair-up bonus.
Morgan's skills shall be Limit Break, Axefaire, Aggressor, Astra, and Counter. His class shall be General. Only one activation skill has been chosen because only one can activate at a time. When the damage is soaring this high, obviously it's a multiplier we want; between Astra and Aether, Astra clearly wins out against an enemy with 0 defense. Counter is selected over the marginal benefits of all stats+2 or str+2, because in order to top the 79 damage Counter can provide, you must be able to add in at least 3 points to the base attack (because of the multiplicative effects of astra/crit/rounds). Hilariously, our stat boosts are just below that threshold.
Gerome's skills shall be Limit Break, Aggressor, Axefaire, All Stats +2, Str +2, because he's support and those are the only might-boosting alternatives things to fill in with. He will be a berserker, A supported with Morgan (yay parenting!).
They will both be wielding max-might forged brave axes (17 might). Gerome will be paired up to help Morgan. (Aside from the dual attack bonus, this is a total of 10 strength added to Morgan: 5 class bonus + 2 A support + 3 base stat.) They will be under the boosts of Rally Spectrum, Strength, and Heart (a total of +10 strength).
Have both of them use a strength tonic before fighting, and serendipitously get a "brief surge" of strength (+4) through the barracks. Have them both have A in Axes (+1 might) and face an enemy with Lances (+1 weapon triangle bonus).
Calculations
We will assume a "perfect" world in which every attack is a critical hit, and every dual strike comes into play.
Morgan's Damage
Base max str = 71 (after limit break)
Bonuses: +5 axefaire, +10 aggressor, +10 pair up, +10 rallies, +2 tonic, +4 barracks surge, +2 A rank axe vs lance => 114
After weapon => 131
Astra (divide by 2, take floor, multiply by 5) => 325
Critical Hit => 975
This is the damage for each blow. Since Morgan is wielding a brave weapon and outspeeds the dummy, he will hit a total of 4 blows, for 3900 damage.
Gerome's Damage
Base max str = 67
Bonuses: +5 axefaire, +10 aggressor, +10 rallies, +2 all stats, +2 str, +2 tonic, +4 barracks surge, +2 A rank axe vs lance => 104
After weapon => 121
Critical Hit => 363
He can jump in after each of Morgan's blows that is, he'll jump in 4 times. Every time he jumps in, he'll hit two blows using his brave weapon. So that's 8 blows total, for 2904 damage.
Now after these numbers in the thousands this may seem silly, but I'm a mathematician, not a physicist, so let's toss in 79 damage from countering a blow that leaves Morgan at 1 hp.
This makes for a peak damage of 3900 + 2904 + 79 = 6883 damage as a result of one "attack" command.
A few defenses:
Why physical strength? The modifiers for physical strength are higher on the whole. Weapons are stronger, max modifiers tend to be higher, etc. I did quickly look over the magic modifiers to make sure I wasn't missing anything and I'm quite sure I haven't.
If there's some bonus I've forgotten, please let me know. :>
A few mechanical notes:
- Tonics, confects, and tears do not stack against each other. They contribute at most +2 to a stat. However, they do compound with barrack "brief surge" boosts.
- Dual strikes activate after every swing of a brave weapon, but not after every astra blow.

Rallies have already been considered.
Re: Same anon
Well, any improvement you make to the lead unit will be reflected 30x. And any improvement you make to the supporter will be reflected 24x. Your suggestion improved both by several points so I'm not that surprised. :P
