Biases
I made this post because I felt like it. Maybe it will be useful somehow someday. This list has something of a leaning toward romance type things, because I guess when it comes down to it that's what I associate with gratuitousness.
You may now proceed to psychoanalyze me.
Gratuitousand Sometimes Problematic Things Ammie Secretly Likes (Despite Any Snobby Statements Otherwise):
Elements
Top tier:
- Hurt/Comfort: Pretty much any variety, but I am particularly fond of past psychological trauma, illness, and hypothermia. A rarer one (that happens to be present in Ike/Soren, all my love) is feeding starving children.
- Asylum AUs. My most socially problematic weakness. :(
- Grooming: Showers, backrubs, etc., all the way down to doing each others' hair. Um, there are some limits -- brushing someone's teeth for them is more weird than unf.
- Super-intense personal loyalty, especially if the target of loyalty doesn't actively give them much reason to sustain such loyalty.
- Personal betrayal coupled with a tragic ending. Eg, dubcon/noncon, but only if the result is intensely negative.
- Couples who knew each other as children.
Second tier:
- Modern Slice of Life AUs: Preferably college or after, and especially when coupled with domestic activities, such as baking a cake, doing laundry, etc.
- Bed/blanket/bedroll/etc sharing.
- Intense two-sided rivalries. (Only two-sided ones.)
- Forbidden love. I'm so vanilla.
- Mental illness.
Third tier:
- Sweet parents being understanding.
- Personal sacrifices.
- Academic dorkery.
Characters
Top tier:
- Damaged tsunderes. Especially those with a secret weakness. Tsundere is a more specific term than I really mean, though. I'm partial to any variant of prickly/mean on the outside, squishy on the inside.
- Gloomy artists.
- Outcasts, but only if the outcastedness is an element actively present in the timeframe of the work. (Eg, Tamaki Suou does not count.)
Second tier:
- Nerdy types: scientists, scholars, mages... can potentially apply to other people very passionate about an unusual interest, eg pro gamers.
- Illegitimate heirs.
- Really smart bad boys.
- "Reformed" people of any sort. Reformed felons, reformed addicts, reformed cultists...
Third tier:
- Androgyny
- Schemers, traitors, spies
- Lanky, slender, or otherwise lithe body types.
Turn-Offs:
I don't think I have any top tier turn-offs.
Second tier:
- Personal betrayal coupled with a positive portrayal or end result.
- Bad depictions of mental illness.
- "Idiot sage" type characters: simple, almost daft/spacey characters who can somehow ~see through people~.
Third tier:
- Overly muscular people.
- Relationships without some source of strife.
- Characters who are allegedly haunted by something but depicted as otherwise.
I think that's probably most of them. Wow this post is too long.
Oh well, it's there for if I ever... enter any exchange type thing... yeah.
<--- has never entered an exchange type thing.

But I bet most people could guess mine anyway just based on what I write.
